LOAN TO VALUE (LTV) RATIO
The Loan to Value ratio is simply the amount of the mortgage divided by the purchase price of the property or worth of the property. Higher LTV ratios may require mortgage insurance. The amounts vary but usually ratios above about 80% require insurance. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac also have LTV limits.
